Welcome to the Evening Standard’s Live coverage of the Premier League derby between Manchester United and Manchester City

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side earned bragging rights on Sunday afternoon, completing the double over their local rivals with a deserved 2-0 victory at Old Trafford.

Anthony Martial gave United the lead on the half-hour mark when a volley – teed up by Bruno Fernandes – squirmed under the body of Ederson.

The City goalkeeper was then left red-faced at the death as an errant throw was brilliantly dispatched into the net from 52 yards by Scott McTominay.

Manchester United player ratings

DEFENCE
David De Gea 7 A A good save to deny Sterling after United suffered a nervous start. Good in the air when needed.

Victor Lindelof 7 Composed display to limit City to very few chances.

Harry Maguire 8
A couple of misjudgements to start with. After that he totally grew into the game and barely gave Aguero a kick.

Luke Shaw 8
Getting better and better every week. Caught dithering by Aguero early on, but after that won just about everything that came his way.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka 9 An absolutely immense performance both defensively and going forward. Sterling couldn’t get any change out of him. Is there a better tackler in English football?

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was delighted with his team’s display:

The desire, attitude, commitment, connection between fans and players pleased me most. At times we pressed them, pushed them back, we tried to be aggressive. We made them make mistakes and we are happy with the result. “

Attacking partnership “Anthony and Bruno have hit if off. It is a privilege to be a manager of a squad with this attitude. You can’t ask for more. They are going to improve as players as well.

“Those little things will come but it is a privilege and they want to listen to advice. For our players to beat a team like Manchester City is fantastic, I am delighted for them. “

Guardiola refuses to criticize Ederson’s performance after his crucial mistakes:

He saved one or two, he’s an exceptional goalkeeper.

“I don’t come to judge my players , mistakes are part of the game. He will recover and is an exceptional goalkeeper. “

A stone-faced Pep Guardiola speaks to BBC Sport:

“We played good, we missed a little in the final third but the second half was better and it was a good performance. We play the same way, tried the press and defend well and we did well.

“Our game is there, we played really good in terms of coming here. They wait and did long balls on the counter-attack for Daniel James and Anthony Martial.

“We did our game but unfortunately we conceded a goal. They waited for our mistakes.”

On De Bruyne injury
“Kevin De Bruyne is getting better, I don’t know when he will come back but he is getting better.”

Man City midfielder Bernardo Silva speaks to Sky Sports after City’s defeat:

It was a bad game for us. Not acceptable. We did not start badly and were playing quite well until we conceded.

) “We know how good the Manchester United players are on the counter-attack, very aggressive. So our performance was not acceptable.

“We will have to watch the game back and listen to what Pep has to say. But a team like ours cannot lose this many games. We need to check what’s not going right and try not to make so many mistakes. “

Here’s Scott McTominay, speaking to Sky Sports:

“That was such a sweet moment. Credit to the boys. Sticky first minutes and we had to keep going. We will take confidence from that but in the coming weeks we have got to keep the run going.

On his goal “It’s such a beautiful feeling to score like that in front of the fans. But we can’t get too carried away and need to keep pushing for the Champions League. “

James Robson delivers his full-time verdict

I have never seen Ederson play so badly, but that takes nothing away from United. This has shown the many dimensions to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

“This had a bit of everything – and perhaps now, more than ever, Old Trafford will believe in his revolution.”

The sheer noise. The atmosphere. It hasn’t been like this for a long, long time at Old Trafford.

There have been some tough times under Solskjaer, but the tide is turning.

On comes Odion Ighalo.

So many times he’s made a good run today and not been found. Will United pay for that?

Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James will all be assessed ahead of the game.

All three missed Thursday’s FA Cup fifth round tie with Derby and will face late fitness tests on Saturday.

Maguire turned his ankle in training, while Wan-Bissaka is struggling with a back problem. James is recovering from a knock.

Kevin De Bruyne will be given every chance to make the derby. The Belgium playmaker is recovering from a shoulder injury, but Manchester City do not want to risk further damage with the second leg of their Champions League last – 25 clash with Real Madrid coming up later this month.

And Pep Guardiola has confirmed Leroy Sane has no chance of being involved against Manchester United as City continue to manage his return from knee ligament damage.

It is believed De Bruyne is eager to be part of the match at Old Trafford and City will assess him over the weekend.
