Manchester United will assess their injured and unwell players on the morning of their League Cup semi-final first leg with Manchester City.
Luke Shaw, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard missed the FA Cup draw at Wolves on Saturday through illness and Harry Maguire sustained an injury at Molineux. Maguire played out the game but was seen limping through the mixed zone.
Defensive trio Eric Bailly, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Axel Tuanzebe have been training but might not be ready for the visit of City.
“We’re going to give them as much time as we can,” Solskjaer said. “That’s the most correct and honest answer I can give you. Because some of them are still not ready.
” If it was a game today I’m not sure they could perform at their best but another 90 hours might be a big change. So we will give them until tomorrow morning until I give them the team. “
On Maguire,Solskjaeradded:” It is a bit early yet. We are going to give him as much time as possible. He was hobbling about yesterday but there are still 90 hours to go so we will just wait with all of them. It is not a time to go out on the pitch and do lots of work anyway. We are going to do meetings and recovery work.
“We hope that everyone is going to be available but we don ‘ t know because some recover quicker from illnesses than others. “
Solskjaer refused to confirm whether Sergio Romero would retain his place in the League Cup. Romero kept his 52 nd clean sheet in his 90 nd United appearance at Wolves and has started inUnited’sthree previous League Cup ties. “I can’t give you the team at the moment.
” Sergio did really well again, I have to say. We’ll keep the team until tomorrow because I don’t think the boys know who’s fit and available, either. “
