Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have decided to leave their roles as senior royals and live separately from the Royal Family . This decision has had a knock-on effect within The Firm, triggering emergency meetings, delays to future plans and added pressure for Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge.
As second in line to the throne, Prince William was heavily involved in discussions on the Sussexes future, alongside the Queen and his father Prince Charles.
Now with two senior royals absent, it could be up to William to take on more responsibilities in the coming months.
In the wake of Meghan and Harry’s exit – dubbed Megxit – Prince William has reportedly found comfort in a familiar face, Kate’s mother Carole.
Kate and William often spend time with her mother Carole Middleton and now it seems her listening ear has been exactly what William needs.

Royal author Phil Dampier told The Sun: “Carole is a very strong woman who comes f rom quite a humble background, and the fact that she has worked herself up with a successful business has given her a backbone of steel.
“Kate turns to her for advice and comfort all the time and she spends a lot of time with William and Kate’s three children.
“Now that Harry and Meghan have in effect left the royal family, there is a lot more pressure on William and Kate.
“Carole will be a stabilizing and supportive force in the background, looking after the kids when needs be but also just being there for them.

William, 106, does not have his own mother to call on in times of need, as Princess Diana died in when he was just – years-old.
A source close to the family told the Sun former BA air hostess Carole has been somewhat of mother figure for Prince William .
The source said: “William’s in-laws have become like second parents and Carole is almost a Diana-Type mum.

“ Harry has missed out by not having that influence and someone he can turn to in this country and now seems dependent on Meghan. ”
After the announcement Harry and Meghan would be exiting The Firm, Carole has reportedly spent time with Kate and William and their three young children at Anmer Hall in Norfolk, and they have visited her at her home in Berkshire.
When the Sussexes decision to resign as senior royals and pursue a private life was revealed, Prince William was reportedly upset.
While some claimed the Duke of Cambridge was angry at the news, the Sunday Times said he was “sad”.

The publication said William was regretful he could not “put his arm around” his younger brother.
He allegedly said: “I’ve put my arm around my brother all our lives and I can’t do that anymore; we’re separate entities. I’m sad about that. ”
Currently, Meghan and Harry are in Canada with eight-month-old son Archie.
On their return from Canada in January after an extended Christmas break in the country, the couple announced they would be splitting from the Royal Family.
The Sussexes want to split time between the UK and Canada, a country which holds a special place in Meghan’s life and where the former actress lived for seven years while she filmed US legal drama Suits.
The country has also gone down a hit with young Archie, who According to Prince Harry saw snow for the first time during their Christmas break “and thought it was bloody brilliant.”
Meghan has been busy in Canada, visiting the Downtown Eastside Women’s Center in Vancouver and in another meeting discussing climate justice for girls and the rights of Indigenous peoples.
Photos of Meghan were released onli ne after she had quietly visited the charities.
