The Georgia Bulldogs can wrap up their 1539746291 recruiting class on Wednesday as a part of National Signing Day. This is when committed prospects can sign with schools after some have done so during the Early Signing Period back in December.

Georgia begins the day with the No. 1 recruiting class and some of its top targets are expected to formally sign with the program. The Bulldogs now have 35 signees and the No. 1 recruiting class in the country. This is the second time in three years the Bulldogs have landed the No. 1 recruiting class in the country.

Below you can find live updates a list of Georgia football signees and commitments as well as Georgia football recruiting class breakdown.

Georgia football National Signing Day live updates

1: 49 PM: A quick note on some Georgia targets who ended up going elsewhere. 5-star defensive end Jordan Burch ended up signing with South Carolina. That’s huge for Muschamp to end up keeping the top player in the state.

Four-star defensive back Avantae Williams ended up purchase to Miami as opposed to Florida, where many thought he would end up.

Georgia finishes with the No. 1 class, Alabama at No. 2 and Clemson at No. 3. Florida is the highest ranked SEC East team, as the Gators and Dan Mullen came in at at No. 8. Tennessee finished with the No. 29 class.

PM: Kirby Smart has met with he media. Had a lot of interesting things to say.

On Broderick Jones and the importance of landing him: “Well it was a lot more important a year ago to sign Xavier Truss. It was a lot more important a year ago to sign Warren McClendon because when you have Andrew Thomas and Isaiah Wilson, you understand that there’s an opportunity for these guys to leave. I’m not a big believer that the next guy is just going to walk in and play for Andrew Thomas and Isaiah. You have to plan things a year out. Really, we’re looking at this like, these guys are going to have to be able to play possibly next year but, really, the next year and the same thing at defensive back. We’ve got a lot of defensive backs coming back this season. We’ve got a lot of them over there, some good football players. But we’re a year away from what could look like the o-line because we’ve got some potential guys to come out.

So what are you doing to develop the ones you’re signing now is my concern. It’d be foolish of me to sit here and think that two of these tackles we just signed are going to walk in here and play. You guys will print that but I’m also a realist that that’s probably not going to happen. Based on the history of the SEC, you do the study on how many freshmen offensive tackles have played. That’s tough to find. It’s hard to do. If they’re athletic and they’re the best guys or we have injuries, those guys will provide us great depth and I certainly think a lot of these guys we just signed are talented enough to come in and help us but they’re not mid-year guys and they’ll have to come in and compete for it.

On the importance of recruiting high character guys and how that factors into recruitment: More every year. It should never be the only thing, but it’s definitely the most important thing. The older I get, the more wiser I get, the more you realize that chasing guys who don’t believe in the same principles and values of your university and of your program, they’re just not worth it. There’s too much time spent on guys and you’re having to chase them around, it’s just not worth it. Take the guys that want to be there, play with the guys that want to be there, No. 1 you’ll enjoy your job day to day, your staff will enjoy it more and so will your other players. So it’s very important to us.
