Netflix has finally dropped her series based on The Witcher and it’s pretty amazing. At least, it’s amazing if you’re into grim fantasy stories. The critical reviews are mixed over at MetaCriticbut Twitter is a different story.

It seems like the new series is getting universal acclaim all over the world on Twitter. The barrier to entry may be high, but that doesn’t seem to be stopping any of the fans of the series from enjoying the brutal fight scenes and complicated plot.

The Witcher is Mostly Beloved on Twitter

Bar a few less-than-positive reactions from detractors, The Witcher seems to be Twitter’s newest darling. An overwhelming majority of the tweets about the show appear to be singing its praises. In particular, the show’s choreography is a big hit.

The fight scenes are being praised, not just for their fast-paced choreography, but also for their realistic brutality. From some of the things being posted on Twitter, it’s abundantly clear that Netflix went all out on making The Witcher as grim and brutal as possible. Luckily, it seems to be paying off for them.

There Have Been a Few Nay-Sayers

One point of contention, both online and among critics, has been a perceived ‘feminist agenda’ in the show. On Twitter, a few people have said that the show has ’SJW undertones. As well as that,

at least one critic has described the female characters as ‘proto-feminist princesses’.

Some people don’t seem to like certain undertones they can see in The Witcher. Whether or not those undertones are there or not will probably depend on your viewpoint. | Source:Twitter

Whether or not these undertones are there , and whether or not they’re a problem if they are there, is down to individual viewers’ discretion. So far the point has been rather minor, mainly drowned out by praise for the writing, acting and fight choreography.

Even with some minor criticism going on, it seems like the series is going to end up being a hit for Netflix. Hopefully, this means we’ll see more fantasy-themed shows in the near future. Now let’s all just cross our fingers and pray that
