All .new domain names are required to comply with the.New Registration Policy, which features a usage-based restriction to ensure that all domains are being used for new actions. That means that all .new domains registrations must:
- Be used for action generation or online content creation;
- Take the user directly into the action generation or content creation flow;
- Resolve to the action within 100 days of registration; * and
- Allow Google Registry to verify compliance at no cost.

When can I buy a .new domain?
Sunrise *
October 15, 2019 – January 14, 2020
This is the period when brand owners can register their domains that have an exact match trademark verified in the Trademark Clearinghouse.
Limited Registration Period
December 2, 2019 – July, 2020
Starting in December 2019 registrants can apply for .new domains. Applications that comply with our policies will be allocated domain names based on availability.
General Availability
July 21, 2020 onwards
Anyone can register .new domains without having to apply, but will still need to comply with the with theNew Registration Policy.

What are the .new registration requirements?

How will .new’s policies be enforced?
During our Limited Registration Period from December 2, 2019 to July 2020, we’ll actively review applications to operate .new domains to ensure compliance with theNew Registration Policy. All registrants will be required to first apply for their desired domain names before they can register them with eligible registrars and domain names will only be allocated to proposals that align with our policies.
During General Availability, domains will be available to register directly through your registrar, meaning that we won’t review individual shortcuts prior to registration. We will continue to monitor the .new namespace for compliance with the.new Registration Policy. If we discover domains that do not comply with this policy, we’ll reach out to you and give you a short window to bring your domain into compliance with the policy. If issues are not remediated within the specified period your domain may be suspended or deleted without refund.
Any domain that violates ourDomain Name Abuse Policymay be deleted or suspended without warning and without refund.
Do I have to use my .new domain name right away?
We understand that it may take some time to perfect your .new shortcut before it launches. That’s why Google Registry will waive enforcement of the.New Registration Policyfor domains in their first 100 days of registration, as long as those domains do not resolve . After that 100 – day period is up, Google Registry will enforce the usage requirement, which could include suspension or deletion of domains of without refund for domains that are not being used or that are being used in a non-compliant fashion without refund.
What if I want to register a domain and use it later?
We want to get .new domain names in the hands of registrants who are ready to use them. While our 100 – day waiver of enforcement is designed to give you some time to get your name up-and-running, we don ‘ t recommend registering if you don’t have a clear shortcut in mind. Once those 100 days are up, we reserve the right to enforce the.new Registration Policy.
What happens if I don’t use my domain for action?
The requirement to use .new domains for online action and content creation applies to all .new domains. Google Registry will actively enforce the.New Registration Policy, which may include suspension and deletion of non-compliant domains without refund. Before we take those actions, we’ll let non-compliant registrants know that they’ve violated our registration policies and give them a short period to come into compliance.
My .new domain name was deleted / suspended, can I get a refund?
Domain refund policies, like domain prices, are set by our registrar partners, and are not typically offered in the industry. Registrants are expected to review domain registration policies and ensure that they comply before registration.
Is .new limited to companies and organizations, or can individuals register too?
Our policies don’t limit who can register a .new domain, only how they must be used. While we expect that most of our registrants will be companies and organizations, we welcome individual registrants who plan to use their .new domain for action generation or online content creation. We’re excited to see how you use .new!
How can I tell whether my shortcut complies with the .new Registration Policy?

Why should I choose .new over another domain extension?
.new is the first and only domain name devoted entirely to action. With so many early registrants using memorable .new shortcuts, visitors will know that .new domains get things done. It’s the clear choice if you want to help your users gets things done faster and more easily.
Why can’t we register a .new domain name directly through Google Registry?
Industry policies require that all of our domains are sold through registrars and not directly by the registry. But don’t worry, we’re onboarded with a number of registrars that can help you register your .new domain.
Why doesn’t my registrar sell .new domains?
Registrars decide which domain extensions they support. We’ve compiled a list so you can easily know every registrar that carries .new.
My registrar supports .new, why can’t I register my Limited Registration Period domain with them?
Domain Registrations during the Limited Registration Period require additional functionality that not all registrars sup port. You’re welcome to choose among all registrars participating in the Limited Registration Period to register your domain.
The domain name I want to register shows as unavailable, is there anything I can do to get it?
If the domain you want is unavailable it probably means that someone else registered it first. You can try reaching out to the email address published in the sponsoring registrar’s WHOIS to see if the registrant is willing to sell the domain. In some cases, unregistered domains may be reserved from registration pursuant to ICANN policies or registry processes – these domains will not be made available for registration.
Why are .new domains priced at such a high cost?
We’re invested in making .new a namespace that’s all about action. That means we need to monitor and protect the namespace to ensure that domain names comply with our registration policies and deliver the intended user experience. This is reflected in the higher price for .new domains.
