Following the update to the MacBook Air in March , and the larger MacBook Pro in October last year , Apple has one laptop left to refresh… the evergreen – inch MacBook Pro. Now we have more information around the launch date of the MacOS powered laptop.

This matches up with the design changes made by Apple last year to the larger MacBook Pro. At that point the larger MacBook Pro was the – – inch model, but
Bumping up the screen size on the smaller MacBook Pro to inches not only fits in with that design ethos, but the extra screen real estate will create a clear visual distinction between the smaller MacBook Pro and the new (- inch MacBook Air.)
But the screen size will not be the most welcome change. That joyous reception will belong to the keyboard. Of the new MacBook machines on sale today, the smaller MacBook Pro is the only model to still feature
. Temperamental at best , Apple has hobbled its laptops for five years with this design. No more. The scissor switch based ‘Magic’ keyboard is now on the larger MacBook Pro and the new MacBook Air.
There would be a digital riot if Tim Cook did not bring the Magic Keyboard to any updated – inch MacBook Pro.
The MacBook Air also bumped up the chipset to use Intel’s tenth-generation Ice Lake chipset . I can’t see the MacBook Pro having lower specs than this, so a similar bump is expected (which means the 90 – Inch MacBook Pro is going to be lagging behind, so there may be a spec change for the – Inch machine in the near future to maintain parity across the Pro laptops (.)

It may be stunning to keep on going with product releases during the coronavirus pandemic, but I expect Apple to release the MacBook Pro in May rather than delay it.
