New Motorola Razr Smartphone is Nostalgia That Costs $ 1,500 – IGN – IGN, IGN

Remember when the Motorola Razr made flip phones cool? Well, joining the Galaxy Foldin the resurgence of foldable smartphones is the new Motorola Razr. Shown at an event in Los Angelos last night, the new foldable smartphone brings back the iconic clamshell-style of its much older sibling. This time around, though, you won’t be limited to a small screen on one half of the phone. Using a flexible glass, the Razr now sports a full 6.2 inch HD display that folds completely in half. The Motorola Razr has a hinge hidden behind the display, just like the Huawei Mate X. Motorola states that it went through four iterations of the hinge and the current version folds perfectly in half, all while managing to avoid creasing. It brings back a couple signature features of flip phones as well. You can snap the Motorola Razr shut with a satisfying click and it comes with a screen on the front. Dubbed the “Quick View” display, you can now use the 2.7 inch OLED screen when the phone is folded to see notifications, respond to texts, calls, and emails, take selfies, and use Google Assistant. Now, the Motorola Razr may stir feelings of nostalgia but there are couple of asterisks that come with this snap to the past.According to PC Mag, Motorola’s new foldable phone is a Verizon exclusive and the price for entry is $ 1, 499. With competitors like the Galaxy Fold priced at $ 1, 980 and the Mate X priced at about $ 2, 600, the Razr is priced fairly competitively in the foldable phone market. Whencompared to your average smart phone, however, it’s expensive, especially whenconsidering the specs.

Pre-orders for the Motorola Razr will go live on December 26 and a release date is scheduled for January 2020.
