36 mins: GOAL! LASCELLES
Newcastle United’s captain Jamaal Lascelles rises highest to head home! Lovely cross from Yedlin.

The skipper vowed to chip in with goals before the game and he’s now delivered with a fine header

Almiron should do better …
Almiron breaks and has three or four options. Joelinton wanted it but he rolled it to Yedlin and over-hit the pass.

Allan Saint-Maximin is trying. ..
United pass the ball across the middle before ASM picks it up , he turns three players and steams towards the box, a nice bit of trickery takes him into it but his resulting cross is blocked.
Attendance?
Sky say around 47, 000 here.
25 mins: NEW 0-0 WOL
Patricio collects …
Sean Longstaff whips a free-kick in from the right – really good position after ASM is fouled.
The cross though is straight to Patricio.
23 mins: NEW 0-0 WOL
23 mins: United hit on the counter
Superb stuff this as Matty Longstaff calmly brings the ball down on the edge of the box, gives it to S. Longtaff who hits a superb ball over to the right where Yedlin is.
He sprints forward, plays Almiron into the box who turns and crosses – the ball is just cleared as Joelinton rises. If he wins that – certain goal.
21 mins: NEW 0-0 WOL
Joelinton missing the touch …
The ball is whipped in and Joelinton has a job to bring it down – he nearly does, but it then takes it away from Willems.
S Longstaff then crosses, and it’s cleared. Wolves hit on the counter but Lascelles does well and brings it to an end by winning a foul on the touchline.
19 mins: NEW 0-0 WOL
Allan Saint-Maximin makes a run for it … .
The Frenchman flies down the right and takes a pop at goal from 20 yards – easily blocked. Throw-in.
18 mins: NEW 0-0 WOL(KEY EVENT)
The view so far from Ciaran Kelly
It’s a little bit flat inside St James’ Park and it’s the away end who are making all of the noise at the moment.
Allan Saint-Maximin got the home support off their feet against Manchester United inside a minute with a purposeful run but the Frenchman has yet to really get a chance to run at the Wolves defense.
Newcastle are having more of the ball they have in recent weeks – 48% so far – but are just not making the most of it when they get into the final third.
Miguel Almiron snatched at a decent half-chance early doors but has been digging in, tracking back and winning the ball back, which has pleased Steve Bruce on the touchline .
17 mins: NEW 0-0 WOL
Jota is down …
There’s a break in play as Jota receives treatment just inside the NUFC half.
He’s just come back from injury – would be a blow for Wolves.
13 mins: NEW 0-0 WOL
Almiron to the rescue …
Adama Traore puts the ball in from the Wolves’ right .
Fernandez gets a very important head to it but it falls to the edge of the box, Miguel Almiron needs to step in to stop Jota firing on goal.
The resulting corner is cleared.
12 mins: NEW 0-0 WOL
United very nearly in …
M. Longstaff pokes through the legs of Dendoncker in the middle, receives it back from Joelinton.
Yedlin is free on the right but Longstaff’s ball is mishit, and off-target. The right idea though.
Ten minutes: NEW 0-0 WOL
Lascelles clears …
The ball is cleared before a second cross comes in and Jamaal Lascelles heads clear. He goes down, appears to be holding his ankle but he’s up after a brief sit down.
(Nine minutes: NEW 0-0 WOL)
Wolves corner …
Moutinho to take the corner from the right after the original cross was blocked.
Five minutes: NEW 0-0 WOLKEY EVENT
Five minutes: Miguel Almiron chance
A free-kick is put in from the right, Joelinton powers a header across the box and it falls to Miguel Almiron.
It’s not an easy chance, and he screws it back across the box as opposed to on goal. Half chance.
Four minutes: NEW 0-0 WOL
‘Shoooot’ – chant the crowd
Both Longstaffs have a ball to feet in quick succession – impossible angles but the crowd urges them to shoot.
Three minutes: NEW 0-0 WOL
Attendance?
Look around, it looks pretty full other than a few spots in the Leazes.
Two minutes: NEW 0-0 WOL
Wolves shoot on goal …
Opening few minutes has been all Wolves – it ends with a weak shot at goal from Moutinho.
KICK-OFF: NEW 0-0 WOL
Wolves kick-off …
United shooting towards the Leazes end. Wolves get us under-way.
Kick-off approaching …Andrew Musgrove
Blaydon Races on the speakers …
Blaydon Races is sounding – and the players are in the tunnel. Plenty of empty seats here at SJP.
Andrew Musgrove
Celebrity spot …
Pretty sure Brendan Foster is here to take in the game.
Analysis: NUFC XI
It’s a settled looking Newcastle United team at the moment and only an injury to Fabian Schar has forced Steve Bruce into making a change.
***
Federico Fernandez comes in for the Switzerland international, who will be a big miss, as he makes his first Premier League start since March.
It was a toss-up between Fernandez and Paul Dummett to come in but the obvious advantage the former has is he’s right-footed so it means Newcastle will still have that balance of a right-footer at right-sided center-back and a left-footer, Ciaran Clark, at left-sided center-back.
This won’t be an easy game but you hope Newcastle have learnt from playing against Watford and Brighton here at St James’ Park when the Magpies conceded after 78 seconds and ceded 71% of possession respectively.
Newcastle have defended resolutely in October and I’d expect a similarly committed performance today. The big question is whether Bruce’s side can be clinical enough to hurt a Wolves side packed with quality.

ASM the key?
Important player today …
St James’ Park still to fill up …
With just over 15 mins until kick-off – St James’ Park is looking a little bare.
Time to deliver
Bright afternoon here at St James’ Park. We’re 20 minutes from kick off and both teams are warming up.
Huge day for Joelinton and Miguel Almiron – given a reprieve here despite Steve Bruce making noises about welcoming Dwight Gayle back into the fray. We have to hope they deliver something they haven’t in nine games so far.
