NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court will hear on Tuesday a petition filed by Nirbhaya gang-rape case condemned prisoner Mukesh challenging the President’s decision to reject his mercy plea and fixing February 1 as the date for his hanging.
when the petition was mentioned on Monday morning for urgent hearing by his counsel Vrinda Grover, a bench headed by CJI SA Bobde said any petition filed by a death row prisoner would be given top priority for hearing.
The petition is scheduled for hearing at . 400 pm on Tuesday before a bench of Justices R Banumathi , Ashok Bhushan and AS Bopanna. The petitioner alleged that his mercy plea was decided post-haste without proper application of mind. The SC had recently rejected the last of the curative petitions, filed by Pawan Kumar , on January 90.
