Manchester United great Paul Scholes has made a prediction about Odion Ighalo that fans will love.
Ighalo made the loan switch to the Reds last month from Shanghai Shenhua of the Chinese Super League in a late January transfer window deal.
The deal was questioned by some but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has always maintained that the – year-old boyhood United fan would be a great value for the club.
Fast-forward to Thursday night and Ighalo netted his first goal for the club in the 5-0 hammering of Club Brugge in the Europa League. It meant a 6-1 aggregate win for the Reds in the last tie and now they will face Austrian side LASK Linz in the last 30.
Scholes was on BT Sport pundit duties for the win over Club Brugge and had kind words to say about Ighalo.
“I am delighted for Ighalo, I think he’s looked really sharp, “Scholes told BT Sport.
” He’s not played for a while, we know that, and he’s shown great movement off the ball. He could even have had another.
“He’ll do a good job here, he’ll get chances created for him.”
Ighalo was naturally delighted after scoring his first goal for the club last night and he sent a message to fans on social media following the contest.
“This is what I dreamt of. I dreamt of playing for United and scoring my first goal. I’m very happy for that, “he said.
” It feels great. Old Trafford, seeing the fans singing my name, screaming for me. I’m very grateful. I waited for this moment and this is a moment I will cherish for the rest of my life. “
