The Red Devils sealed their place in the knockout stages of the Europa League as they thrashed Standard Liege 4-0 to go through as Group L winners – likely to hand them a favorable draw in the last 32 draw.
And with the Old Trafford side heading into four competitions going into the new year, additions to the squad should be a priority, with the team looking thin after offloading Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to Inter with no replacement, while Ander Herrera went to PSG.And Solskjaer has admitted the club are hoping to make movements when the winter window opens on January 1, with the Norwegian boss insisting he’s lacking numbers in his squad.Solskjaer has overseen Man United’s progress into the Europa League knockout stages
‘We are looking to strengthen in many positions,’ he said after the 4-0 win.
“We are getting there but we still need two or three players to have enough numbers.”Despite United’s thumping win to help them through in Europe, the home side went in at half time level pegging – with the team producing a much improved display after the break to finish off the Belgians.But Butsksker insists no stern words were needed at the break and say the squad were simply encouraged to find their best form.

And youngster Mason Greenwood got Old Trafford rocking as the academy graduate fired home from distance before adding a second with a superb finish just after Mata had slotted home a penalty.
