The broadcaster has been accused of “ mocking Chinese people ” and subsequently racism after he attempted to imitate the narrator of a Chinese TV advert for milk . During the latest Good Morning Britain, Piers and Susanna Reid discussed Peter Phillips’ – the eldest grandchild of the Queen and Prince Philip – who recently appeared in the Asian advert.
After the advert was shown, Piers attempted to repeat what was said, making noises in what was apparently an imitation of the Chinese brand’s name.
Co-host Susanna was left exasperated, covering her face with her hand, looking at the desk below her.
“ I don’t know the Chinese for ‘I only drink …’, what’s it called? ”He said.
He then quickly requested the advert be shown again, after which he again made an attempt at imitating the brand’s name.

Piers replied : “Surely you can take the mickey out of it! He’s using ‘ching chang chong’ milk from the Chinese state – that’s what they said in the advert!
“I can’t repeat what they’re saying in the advert … I’m trying to mimic the wording of that advertisement.

Laurence Fox found himself in a bitter argument with an audience member during last weeks QT (Image: BBC)
It isn’t the first time a race row has erupted on UK television.
Last week, actor Laurence Fox sparked controversy after he clashed with a member of the audience during BBC’s Question Time.
Talking about whether Meghan Markle and Prince Harry should be entitled to profit from their royal status after their move away from senior duties, conversation gravitated towards the press’ treatment of Meghan.
Rachel Boyle, a researcher on race and ethnicity at Edge Hill University, Lancashire, said how Meghan was being treated was blatant racism.

Mr Fox disagreed, However, shouting her down, he said: “It’s not racist!”
He went on to claim that the UK was the most “tolerant” and “lovely” country in Europe – Ms Boyle disagreeing and claiming his “white, male privilege” allowed him to have this outlook on the situation.
On hearing this, Mr Fox slumped in his chair, throwing his hands in the air and shouted: “Oh god!”
