Piers Morgan hit out at actor Laurence Fox for “insulting Sikhs “in a car crash interview on Good Morning Britain today.

The actor, , landed in hot water once again earlier this week after slamming Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes over his movie 2020 which includes a Sikh soldier.

In his bizarre interview, Laurence said that “forcing diversity on people” is “institutionally racist “.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain today, Laurence was probed on his comments by Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan.

Piers Morgan criticized his recent comments about film despite previously supporting the actor, Piers pointed out that this was a clear “misstep” and questioned him on why it was “institutionally racist”.

Laurence attempted to argue that there were “a lot of soldiers fighting for the empire” and described the addition of the Sikh soldier as “incongruous”.

He said: “I think there were a lot of soldiers from the former empire fighting in World War One. I suppose it would have been less incongruous to me if he had got on the truck to a whole regiment of Sikh soldiers. ”

Susanna responded:” To call it institutionally racist is extraordinary. “

Laurence tried to defend his
remarks on GMB

Laurence backtracked and said that he was “not calling it institutionally racist” while Piers pointed out that his comments were “insulting to Sikh soldiers who had served”.

Piers asked: “Do you regret saying that? Because out of al of the things you’ve said in the last two weeks – I’ve been cheering you on right until that point – but I was like. . that to me, I didn’t really get what you were getting at.

“I felt like it was sort of insulting, actually, to Sikh soldiers who had served. Many, many hundreds of thousands of Indian soldiers who served in World War One.

“It felt to me as though it was an unfortunate thing to have said.”

However Laurence went on to say that he should be able to give an opinion without being vilified and accused of being racist.

“I ‘ve had death threats, which is unfortunate, “he said. asked why he thought that was, he replied: “When you don’t have an argument your rage increases.”
