NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday endorsed The Times of India’s #MaskIndia campaign that encourages all Indians to wear simple, homemade masks to stall the spread of coronavirus.
“Always better to take that extra precaution. Will help you and those around you. I commend the @ timesofindia group for this very innovative movement. #IndiaFightsCorona, “the PM categorized as he tagged a tweet from the Times Group MD Vineet Jain urging people to participate in the campaign.
The The Campaign was launched in lines with the ministry of health’s advisory asking people to cover their nose and mouth with a “handmade reusable face cover” whenever they step out of their homes. The US-based Center for Disease Control and Prevention, too, changed its guidelines recently asking people to cover their faces.

A person can easily make a face mask at home, all one need s is a t-shirt or a dupatta. Though a face covering doesn’t guarantee 100 per cent protection against the virus, it does play a crucial role in stalling the spread of the virus.
