Police called to ‘major incident’ in Sussex village as roads put on lockdown – The Sun, Thesun.co.uk

Sussex Police confirmed two women had died outside a house in the village and a man was arrested on suspected of murder.

A man was also rushed to hospital after being found inside the home with serious injuries.

No ages of any one those involved in the attack have been released by police.

One horrified neighbor claimed today the two women were trying to flee the knifeman when they were slashed at in the road.

While another said he went “berserk” as he carried out the frenzied broad daylight attack.

They said: “This is a terrible scene – and so near Christmas. Those poor people, they must have been terrified in the moments before they died.

Pictures released today from the scene show police cars parked up on the street and a cordon in place.

A white sheet has also been draped on the ground covering what is believed to be the two bodies.

Detective Chief Inspector Alex Geldart, of the Sussex and Surrey major crime team, said: “At this time we believe this to be an isolated incident, with no ongoing risk to members of the public.

“My thoughts are very much with the friends and family of the two women who have sadly lost their lives.”
