Saejin Oh, a popular artist who streams on Twitch, has threatened a move to Mixer after being banned for their NSFW artwork.
Oh’s ban is one of several that Twitch has handed out for violations of the sexual and suggestive content rule, asAmouranth was also banned for an NSFW wardrobe malfunction.
One Strike Away from Perma-Ban
OnTwitter, Oh shared a lewd image that they’d been creating on Twitch, explaining that they’d been banned for three days because of it. While Oh praised Twitch staff for warning the streamer so that they could back up the video of the stream before the ban happened, the artist also criticized Twitch for its “restrictive” terms of service, saying that “future of art on twitch seems wack. ”
Oh didn’t just stop there, however, explaining that as this is their second ban, if they get anotherTwitchstrike then they will be permanently removed from the platform. In case that happens, the artist has set up a Mixer account.
Is Mixer’s TOS More Restrictive?
However, Mixer’sterms of servicecould possibly be more restrictive than Twitch’s. It says that “Artists and programmers may have a seemingly valid reason for creating adult nude models / art on screen, however, this will become an issue if significant portions of the stream are spent with excessive nudity.”
Artists creating artworks of nudity would have to set their stream as 18 . For artists who mostly create NSFW art, like Oh, setting the stream as 18 would be no problem. The issue is more what the Mixer moderation team deems a “valid reason.” Once again, the line between censorship and TOS violation can become blurred.
