Prashant Kishor meets Nitish Kumar in Patna, says JD (U) chief not in favor of NRC – Times of India, The Times of India

PATNA: Senior JD (U) leader and well-known poll strategistPrashant Kishoron Saturday called on JD (U) president andBiharCMNitish Kumarat the latter’s official residence at 1, Anney Marg here amidst reports of apparent differences between the two over the party’s recent support to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill ( CAB) in the Parliament.

After having a long meeting with JD (U) chief, Kishor told media persons outside the CM house that Nitish Kumar is not in favor of the National Register of Citizens (NRC). “But if the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) is tagged with the NRC, it will become discriminatory and cause troubles,” he said.

To a question on NRC, Kishor further said, “Nitish ji has said earlier also that he is not in favor of the NRC. But what is the stance of JD (U) on the NRC now, Nitish Ji himself will tell you. ”
On being asked about his opposition to the CAB, Kishor said, “My stance on the CAB is still the same. I have said it publicly, not just for Nitish Kumar but for everyone. ”
On being asked about the JD (U) nationalgeneralsecretary (organization) Ram Chandra Prasad Singh’s critical comment on him in which the former had termed Kishor as “a leader inducted in JD (U) on compassionate ground”, the poll strategist said, “RCP Singh is a big leader of the party. Whatever he (RCP) had to say he has already spoken. There is no need of blowing it up too much. — Nitish Ji has suggested me there is no need of paying attention on “anybody uttering anything.”
Earlier on Friday, Singh had said , “People like Prashant Kishor have come in the JD (U) on“ compassionate ground ”and if they did not like the JD (U )’s line on the CAA they should choose their own path.”
“Our leader Nitish Kumar, gave him (Kishor) so much honor. But look at him, what he has been doing now. Such people have come on ‘compassionate ground’ and they think they would stand in front of those leaders who have risen based on their works. Nothing will happen by writing tweets only, ”Singh, who is the JD (U) leader in theRajya Sabha, had said while making an oblique reference to Kishor’s series of tweets in the recent days in which he criticized the party’s line on the CAB.

To another question on Singh’s outburst, Kishor said, “Nitish Ji has asked me, leave everything on him. He (Nitish) will see as to who is at the fault or not. ”
Declining to make any personal comment on Singh, Kishor said, “I do not want to make any personal comment on any leaders of the party. The matter is now before the party chief, he will look into it. ”
Kishor also said,“ I have told the CM whatever I had to speak to him. —- Whatever decision will be taken further in the matter, it will be taken by the CM himself. CM will talk in detail on the certain issues to media after his’ Jal-Jivan-Hariyali yatra. ”
