Britons will head to the polls on December 12 as Prime Minister Boris Johnson tries to secure a majority to deliver his agreed Brexit deal with the bloc. But, Labor Party leader Jeremy Corbyn has pledged to give Brits another Brexit referendum if he holds power after the vote, while Liberal Democrat leader Jo Swinson has demanded the UK “stop Brexit”. A former British diplomat has ripped into Remainers trying to reverse the result of the historic referendum, which took place over three years ago.
Sir Peter Marshall, an expert on multilateral diplomacy, also warned Remainers the UK may not be allowed to simply retake its current position with the bloc.
Writing on Briefings for Brexit, Sir Peter claimed it was a “dangerous misunderstanding” to believe the UK would be able to continue on the “same basis as at present”.
He said : “The Remainers’ prospectus, however, is palpably false. We are not so much led as left to believe that, if we don’t like whatever deal may be available, or if we don’t like Brexit at all, we have the right to remain in the EU on the same basis as at
“That would prove to be a dangerous misunderstanding.”

Sir Peter claimed all “we know for certain” if we have the right to revoke “the notification of our intention to withdraw ”.
He added:“ The European Court of Justice says nothing about the rights of the other 27 Member States in relation to such revocation.
“This can scarcely be a matter of surprise. As they see it, we have been an existential threat, or at best a monumental nuisance. ”
Sir Peter claimed if Article 50 was revoked “we simply have no idea what might await us by way of conditions and complexities at the hands” of the bloc.

At the Conservative Party launch in Bi rmingham on Wednesday evening, Mr Johnson took a swipe at Remainer MPs for halting his plans.
He told supporters: “We have a Parliament that is paralysed, blocked… this Parliament refused to get Brexit done and that is bad for our democracy because we asked the people of this country if they wanted to stay in the EU.
“We told them time and again we would honor their decision. We told them whatever they voted for we would put it into effect. The whole Brexit debate is holding us all back… the uncertainty and delay are bad for the country.
“We need an election and a new Parliament because we can ‘ t go on like this. Now is the time to unleash that tidal wave of investment that is going to flow into this country, a great surge of confidence into the UK and we can do that in just a few weeks. ”

Mr Johnson warned supporters Jeremy Corbyn wants nothing more than “dither and delay”.
The Conservative Party leader mocked the Labor Party for wanting to “do a new deal ”with the EU and then campaign against it.
Mr Johnson warned the country was“ aching to move on ”to massive cheers from the audience.
Labor Party leader Mr Corbyn has defended his Brexit policy, which includes securing a new Brexit agreement before putting it back to the British people – meaning Remainers would have a chance of reversing the 2016 decision.
Last week Mr Corbyn wrote on Twitter: “Secure a credible deal in three months. Put it to the people for the final say, with the option to remain, in six months. That’s our Brexit policy. ”
Lib Dem leader Jo Swinson has repeatedly called for the UK to Remain in the European Union and has vowed to give Brits a“ final say ”On the Brexit deal, as they fight to reject it and remain.

On Sunday, former Cabinet minister Sir David Lidington, who is standing down as an MP, said that Theresa May effectively ruled out a no deal Brexit after a meeting with police chiefs and community groups in Belfast in February.
The UK had originally been scheduled to leave the bloc towards the end of March this year, but the Prime Minister’s Withdrawal Agreement was subsequently rejected by MPs.
Speaking to the Sunday Times, Sir David said: “What really struck her was how the prospect of no-deal was driving them towards actively supporting a united Ireland, rather than being content to let sleeping dogs lie. “
Sir David said that he did not think friction on the border would cause violence, but that” people who are inclined that way would seize upon any opportunity … because it would be a grievance they could exploit “.
