To commemorate a very different first Monday in May this year, Vogue asked some of our favorite stars to create a playlist featuring timeless songs inspired by the theme of this year Met gala and the upcoming Costume Institute exhibition , “About Time: Fashion and Duration.”
Spanish singer Rosalía was going to make her Met gala debut this year — and she’s determined to mark the date regardless, with a spirited mix of her most beloved music. Along with her playlist, she sent a note for Vogue readers, in English and Spanish:
“This playlist is a celebratory playlist for the Met, with nods to my all-time favorite songs, sounds, artists, and references. It has not been possible to celebrate the Met as God intended, but we can celebrate it in our own way from home. I have done it by creating this playlist with Japanese, flamenco, baroque, folk, and hiphop themes … well, everything I like most is in there. Tonight, serve looks to go to the dining room, and while you prepare, you can have a listen to this — kisses. “

This year, because of the global health crisis, the Met gala and the Costume Institute exhibition have been postponed. Instead, on Monday, May 4, Vogue is revisiting some of the most memorable moments in the history of the event, including the best looks and remarkable celebrity appearances .
To conclude the celebration, Vogue invites viewers to join “A Moment” With the Met, “ available via livestream exclusively on YouTube , featuring an address by Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour, a special live performance by Florence and the Machine, and a DJ set from Virgil Abloh.
