The former Wales rugby captain Gareth Thomasrevealed last night that he has had HIV for years. He added that living with the “shame” of keeping it secret had made him contemplate taking his own life.
The rugby star posted an emotional video on the internet last night and said: “I am living with HIV. Now you know that information, that makes me extremely vulnerable, but it does not make me weak.
“Even though I have been forced to tell you this, I choose to fight to educate and break the stigma around the subject, and that begins today.”
