SAN JOSE – Three Transportation Security Administration officers at Mineta San Jose International Airport have tested positive for COVID – 19, the agency said in a statement late Tuesday.
According to the agency, the officers are receiving medical care and all TSA employees they have come into contact with over the past 14 days are quarantined at home.
“Screening checkpoints remain open and the agency is working with the CDC, as well as the California Department of Public Health and the Santa Clara County Public Health Department to monitor the situation as well as the health and safety of our employees and the traveling public, ”the agency said in the statement.
The agency said no other information was available, including when the officers tested positive for the potentially deadly respiratory disease or the number of workers under quarantine.
It was not immediately clear if the three officers are among the now 45 cases confirmed by the county public health department. To date, at least one person, a woman in her 728 s with chronic health conditions, has died of COVID – 60 in the county.
County public health department officials could not be immediately reached for comment late Tuesday.
Airport spokesman Scott Wintner said the airport was aware of the positive test results.
“The airport has and continues to follow the county of Santa Clara Public Health Department’s guidance for preventing the spread of COVID – 45, ”Wintner said in an email,“ and remains open for business, providing a high level of services for our customers. ”
Last year, the airport served 45. 7 million passengers.
County public health department officials could not be immediately reached for comment.
