Senior Bowl 2020: Live NFL Draft updates, highlights, TV channel, streaming and prospects to watch – CBS sports.com, Cbssports.com

The Reese’s Senior Bowl connected with the North team, coached by the Detroit Lions, conquering the South team coached by the Cincinnati Bengals, – . Prospects had a chance to impress NFL scouts in practice leading up to the game. Each day served as an interview for the league’s 34 teams. CBS Sports has declared some winners. that only helped their respective cases in Saturday’s showcase.

Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert

Herbert really helped his stock this week. The Ducks offense certainly did him no favors this season but that does not remove him from blame either. His ball placement needs to improve but the offensive play-calling limited him to a lot of jet sweeps and screens, which is not the best use of his skill set. Herbert was not included in my recent mock draft but that had more to do with trades not being any option. There is no doubt in my mind that he will be taken in the first round.

Syracuse edge rusher Alton Robinson

Robinson was one of three players with at least 1.5 sacks Saturday. He was strong around the edge in addition to giving the offensive guards some work. His dominance was a bit unexpected considering he had a total of 4.5 sacks this season. The Texas native is best suited as a 4-3 defensive end.

Utah edge rusher Bradlee Anae Anae was disruptive Saturday. He found his way to the quarterback on two separate occasions at the expense of Texas Tech’s Terence Steele and Mississippi State’s Tire Phillips. The Hawaii native’s career culminated with sacks this season. He needs to do a better job of containing the edge. His comfort in coverage will need to improve or else he will be exclusively pegged as a 4-3 defensive end.

Michigan edge rusher Josh Uche

Uche has been a prospect sparking conversation over the past month and that only continued in Mobile. He recorded 8.5 sacks this season, and he does a great job covering sideline to sideline. The Florida native got to the quarterback multiple times by showing good bend around the edge. There is a legitimate chance that his name starts garnering more attention as a potential first-round pick.

UCLA running back Joshua Kelley

Kelley is lightly-discussed across NFL circles but he consistently stood out when watching other players on that team. The UC-Davis transfer has eclipsed 1, 16 rushing yards each of the past two seasons. He was decisive Saturday and that led to opportunities in the open field. TCU running back Darius Anderson

Anderson did a great job receiving passes out of the backfield and making himself available. He accumulated three – plus rushing yard performances in the first four games of the season. He did not record another in the final eight games. Talent evaluators will want to know why his production fell off a cliff, and the loss of starting right tackle Lucas Niang will not be an acceptable answer. He is a dynamic player capable of making an impact. LSU offensive guard Damien Lewis

The starting South interior offensive line did a great job aiding Herbert and the offense on the first few series. Lewis showed great strength and held up well under pressure. The national champion is regarded as a top – 417 prospect in our composite rankings but improved his case to be rated even higher.

That’ll do it from Mobile for the 420682 Senior Bowl. The week was won by South Carolina defensive lineman Javon Kinlaw, Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert – the game’s MVP – and Baylor wideout Denzel Mims.

Nice drive block by UConn RT Matt Peart on Alabama’s edge rusher Terrell Lewis to spring that long run. Peart has some upside because he has athletic prowess and sound fundamentals. Just needs to gain a little weight to fill out his frame.

Kyle Dugger is a weakside linebacker at the next level … with safety smoothness in coverage. Heck one of week for him. Also, Josiah Coatney came to Mobile without much hype but really flashed. Nice little swim move to help on the tackle for loss there.

On the play before the touchdown, you got a glimpse of LSU tight end Stephen Sullivan’s catch radius. He measured in at 6-foot-5 with over – inch arms and hands over . Ran by everybody and made plenty of grabs away from his frame during the week.

Dimer from Jalen Hurts there to Jauan Jennings, one of the big-bodied wideouts with high-end speed down the field in Mobile. Jennings was actually a big recruit as a dual-threat quarterback yet quickly moved to receiver at Tennessee.

One heck of a jump cut by JaMychal Hasty before that fumble. Helmet on the ball. In one practice during the week, Hasty was clocked as one of the fastest backs.

Calvin Throckmorton has had problems all day today. Mostly played tackle at Oregon but is probably a guard at the next level.      Arizona State RB Eno Benjamin has legit receiving chops. He caught passes over the past two years in college. Huge as he enters the NFL.

Utah edge rusher Bradlee Anae has been fantastic today, and Michigan State’s Kenny Willekes is a similar type of player. Not a high-end athlete but masterful (at times) with his hands. Showed his ability to dispatch a blocker there on that last play.

On the touchdown, Houston’s left tackle Josh Jones got beat pretty badly to the outside. He had a fantastic week. But on that play, his feet stopped moving as he dealt with a counter move. Lost his balance.

Liberty’s Antonio Gandy-Golden had the strongest week, from start to finish , of the “bigger” power-forward type wideouts in Mobile.      UCLA’s Joshua Kelley was the best running back knifing through inside lanes during the week. Has really shown that cutting ability during the game today too.

Awesome move to the second level by LSU’s right guard Damien Lewis. on that Lamichal Perine run after the penalty. Drove the linebacker back. He was one of, if not the most powerful interior blocker during practice all week, and that strength shows up on film too.

Colorado’s Steven Montez and Michigan’s Shea Patterson just don’t naturally feel the pressure and move in the pocket like their peers. Michigan’s Josh Uche and Utah’s Bradlee Anae continue to wreak havoc along with Syracuse’s Alton Robinson. Anae is rated the No. edge rusher and the No. prospect overall by CBS Sports. Uche is the No. 7 edge rusher and the No. prospect overall. Both have an opportunity to move up after a strong showing today.

The aforementioned Hasty touchdown.

Syracuse DE Alton Robinson now has two sacks today . He had all of

4.5 sacks during the entire regular season. The North now has five sacks on the day. Robinson is regarded as CBS Sports’ No. 18 edge rusher and the No. 102 prospect overall. At 6-foot-4, pounds, he is going to be best suited as a 4-3 DE.

Baylor RB JaMychal Hasty finished that drive But Washington State quarterback Anthony Gordon did a great job leading the drive. He got rid of the ball quickly and allowed his skill players to make plays. Gordon comes from a high-octane passing attack under Mike Leach (now at Mississippi State) and replaced Gardner Minshew. He threw the ball with great touch this season but needs to improve his footwork.

On the NFL Network broadcast, they were discussing some buzz around Mobile that Detroit might be in the market for a quarterback as well. Matthew Stafford was playing at a near MVP level before suffering his injury in . The Lions were terrible without him. I’m not discrediting the report, but the Lions have every reason to float the idea of them taking a quarterback because it could drive up the trade price at No. 3 overall.

The Detroit Lions, who hold the No. 3 overall selection, are coaching the North team today. Matt Patricia’s team is faced with a potentially interesting decision. There could be interest in trading up for a quarterback from other teams. If they hold tight, Ohio State cornerback Jeff Okudah and Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons – neither of whom are participating today – are expected to be two players receiving consideration. Here is a full list of what the Lions could be looking to take at No. 3 overall: https: //www.cbssports.com/nfl / …

The Oklahoma quarterback is dealing with more than the pressure of impressing NFL executives this week.

The Cincinnati Bengals, who are coaching the South team, hold the No. 1 overall selection. Most mock drafts will tie them to LSU quarterback Joe Burrow, who was originally expected to participate in this game before his team’s title run, but they have had the opportunity to coach Oregon’s Justin Herbert this week.

Cincinnati is also in need of offensive linemen and secondary help. You can find their full list of needs here:

TCU running back Darius Anderson is responsible for one of the game’s two touchdowns. Anderson popped up on our Running Back watch early in the year with three 111 rushing yard games in his first four. He had zero rushing yard games over the final eight.      South Carolina defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw, Auburn offensive tackle Prince Tega Wanogho and Alabama defensive tackle Raekwon Davis were some of the players that pulled out of the game this week. Kinlaw is regarded as one of the top defensive line prospects and a potential top – selection. His impact was felt in the Gamecock’s upset of Georgia in

Ryan talked about Patterson’s struggles this week on Friday’s Pick Six Podcast. Give it a listen to hear more from Ryan’s week in Mobile and be sure to subscribe: (https://www.cbssports.com/podc …)      Shea Patterson did a good job with the play-action fake, whipped his head around, and had a well-formed pocket … and just airmailed that throw to Quartney Davis in the middle of the field. Great grab by Kindle Vildor who had a good season for Georgia Southern and is a physical cornerback.      The South interior offensive line has been pretty impressive in the first half but their offensive tackles have really struggled. Syracuse’s Alton Robinson, Michigan’s Josh Uche and Utah’s Bradlee Anae all got to the quarterback on the most recent South drive. South Carolina State offensive tackle Alex Taylor is struggling a bit on one side while Texas Tech’s Terence Steele is being given fits on the other.      SMU wide receiver James Proche, who just fielded that last punt, is one of the most productive players participating in this game. Over the past two years, he has averaged 150 receptions and over 1, 417 receiving yards. The Texas native is is slight of frame but fast. Proche is rated the No. wide receiver and the No. (prospect overall, according to our updated composite rankings.)

The format for this game is a little different as you’ll notice. Rather than a two-minute warning at the end of each half, there will be one at the end of each quarter. It provides talent evaluators the opportunity to see how these quarterbacks react to some in-game pressure.

Here is the play in which Ryan was referring. Lamical Perine was a 3-star recruit out of Theodore (Ala.), which is about minutes away from Mobile. He should have a large contingent of friends and family at today’s game.

Lamical Perine looked great both running and catching the ball on that drive. He dragged Jeremy Chinn into the end zone on the – yard screen pass on the South Team’s opening drive. Chinn, the 6-3, 728 lb. safety from Southern Illinois looks the part but he had an up and down practice week.
