A tourist has been slammed for offending local customs by wearing a thong bikini in a Bali supermarket.

The woman’s outfit was blasted as ‘shameful’ on the Bali ExpatsFacebookgroup, with some questioning how the shopper got into the store.

Critics claimed the attire was culturally insensitive and said she would not dare enter a shop in her own country dressed the same way.

Others argued she should have worn a sarong in the store, although some expats rallied to her defense.

However, others said the photographer was wrong for taking a picture of the woman and shaming her online.

It comes after a tourist was arrested and fined for wearing a skimpy string bikini to a popular tourist beach in the Philippines.

Lin Tzu Ting, 26, was on holiday with her boyfriend when she opted for the revealing garment on Boracay island.

She was warned by staff at the hotel to change her clothes before stepping out – but she ignored them and wore the string bikini for two days in a row.

Shocked locals reportedly called police on the second day – who arrived and made her change into shorts and a t-shirt before arresting her and bundling her into a van.
