Smarking is looking for an excellent senior backend engineer to help us scale the initial success of the company to the next level. Ideal candidates will be passionate about working in an early-stage tech company in the urban mobility world with initial product-market-fit and growing it to the next stage with rocket ship speed. As a senior member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for: 1) building robust and high-quality vendor integration code, data pipelines, and relevant internal tools to continuously enhance ourdata infrastructure; 2) scaling backend system to handle rapidly growing data volumes and streaming needs; 3) building and scaling complicated machine learning algorithms; 4) speeding up CI / CD pipelines. The senior backend engineer will lead major engineering projects with the highest impact on our business and operations.

Our backend stack includes Python, Postgres, Flask, Docker, Redis, ElasticSearch, Airflow, Terraform, and AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, and ECS.
REQUIREMENTS
- 5 – 10 years of experience designing, refactoring, scaling, and implementing large-scale distributed backend systems.
- Extensive experience building and scaling real-time data streams.
- Experience in testing frameworks and CI / CD pipelines.
- Hungry for impact and growth, motivated for constant learning, proactive at collaboration, and strong sense of responsibility.
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Extensive experience building data ETL pipelines.
- Bonus points: Experience with our tech stack. Experience with machine learning and predictive analytics. Experience in front-end development (Javascript / React / Typescript).
