Disney has cut a scene which briefly shows two women kissing in the latest Star Wars film for viewers in Singapore, according to reports.

Local media said the “blink-and-you’ll-miss-it” moment between a pair of resistance troops in The Rise Of Skywalker was removed.

The unknown extras are still seen embracing but the moment they lock lips was removed, according to Yahoo SEA.

Same-sex marriage is illegal in Singapore.

Sex between men is a crime that carries a penalty of up to two years in prison but the law is silent on sex between women, says the LGBT charity Stonewall.

Singapore’s media regulator reportedly blamed the film’s scene cut on its rating PG13 – which means parental guidance is advised for children aged under 13.

“The applicant has omitted a brief scene which under the film classification guidelines would require a higher rating,” a spokesperson from the Infocomm Media Development Authority was reported as saying.

But it seems the same-sex kiss may also have been cut in the Middle East.

The Hollywood Reporter said multiple people who had seen the film in Dubai reported the moment was removed.

Disney has been approached for comment but none was received at the time of publication.
