Steve Round is set to join Mikel Arteta’s backroom staff atArsenal– and Sam Allardyce outlined all the things he’ll bring to north London.

Round has previously worked as an assistant manger at bothManchester UnitedandEverton;the latter being where he met Arteta, who represented David Moyes’ Toffees as a player for six seasons.

Round’s last job was at Aston Villa, where the – year-old spent two years as the club’s director of football before leaving in 2018.

The Englishman was in the stands of Goodison Park alongside Arteta on Saturday, as the duo watched Arsenal draw 0-0 withEverton.

Commenting on the partnership, Allardyce, who worked with Round at Newcastle,

provided an insight into the ways in which the coach will assist Arteta at Arsenal.

Allardyce said on BT Sport: “A great coach. Really good coach, Steve, very detailed, very organized.

“Likes to link in a lot with the analysts and the sports scientists and the nutritionists. So he can bring a lot to the table, take a lot of the pressure off Mikel Arteta.
