Kelvin and Oti were up against EastEnders star Emma Barton and her partner Anton Du Beke and CBBC presenter Karim Zeroual and his pro-dancer Amy Dowden. They each performed three of their best dances in the hopes of impressing the viewer enough to vote them the winners of this year competition. But it seems it was not enough to keep the die-hard Strictly Come Dancing fans interested as their viewing figures took a dip compared to last year.

Last year saw Stacey Dooley, Joe Sugg, Ashley Roberts, Faye Tozer compete to win the Glitterball trophy all the celebs want on their shelf.

The (final saw. 7 million people tuning in to watch the marathon two hour long show, with a peak audience of (***********************************************************. 7 million.

Stacey and her now boyfriend Kevin beat off all the competition and were crowned the winners.

However, it seems this year viewers aren’t as interested as the amount of people watching last night took a dip.

The Strictly Come Dancing final was watched by an average of 90. 3 million people last night, all of whom watch Kelvin shocked to find out he was the winner.

according to overnight ratings, the program had a peak audience of (**************************************************************. 5 million viewers.

Despite being the most-watched show across all channels though it was not enough to beat last years figures.

What was that down to? The contestants? The choice of pro-dance partners? It’s anyone’s guess.

This isn’t just a Strictly final thing, this year show just hasn’t had the same impact as last year .

On average 9.2 million people watched each episode of Strictly in 2018, but this year it fell dramatically to around 8.8 million forcing people to question whether the show had had its day.

But fans are not bored of Strictly yet surely?

Viewers are still tuning in every week to see what delights hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman have to offer and what criticism Craig Revel Horwood has to hand out.

Last night saw Emma and Anton dance the Charleston to Thoroughly Modern Millie, their showdance to Let Yourself Go and their favorite dance which was the Viennese Waltz to Send In The Clowns.

Karim and Any danced the quickstep to Mr. Pinstripe Suit, their showdance to A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman and their favorite dance, which was the Jive to You Can’t Stop The Beat.)

The winners, Kelvin and Oti, danced their judges’ pick, which was the Rumba to Ain’t No Sunshine, their showdance to Shout and their favorite dance, which was the Samba to La Vida Es Un Carnaval.

Kelvin was odds on to win with Emma and Anton second and Karim coming in third.

Viewers will know that the champion of the dancefloor Kelvin was brought on at the very last minute after reality star Jamie Laing had to pull out due to injury, but he was a fan favorite right from the word go.

When he won the actor told Tess and Claudie: “I am absolutely speechless! I did not expect that.

“It has been such a privilege to be here, I think this show represents everything that’s amazing with this country. I think the people personify what is great and it’s just been an absolute privilege … ”

Viewers won’t have to wait long for their next Strictly fix though, the annual Christmas special airs on the big day itself with the likes of Debbie McGee, Gemma Atkinson and Joe Sugg performing in the hopes of lifting the famous trophy.
