Mike Bushell and Katya Jones ‘routine on Saturday night’sStrictly Come Dancingwas the one to get viewers’ tongues wagging.

With a Wild West theme to it, the pair danced an American Smooth to Rhinestone Cowboy, with Mike, 53, performing a number of impressive lifts with Katya, 30.

But at one point, it looked as if he might drop her, leaving fans on the edges of their seats.

The eagle-eyed among them also noticed another interesting detail: that Katya, who split two months ago from husband and fellow pro dancer Neil Jones – was still wearing her wedding ring.

Neil is currently partnered with Alex Scott for the current season of the BBC One dancing show.

Following the routine, host Tess Daly declared that it was’ a very brave routine ‘to attempt in week two, while judge Motsi Mabuse remarked that the pair must have’ a lot of trust ‘in each other.

Others were a little more savage, with Shirley Ballas refraining from critiquing the dancing and instead commenting:’ You have a beautiful smile! ‘

Scathing Craig Revel Horwood said:’ Odd, darling, very, very odd. That’s all I can say. ‘

Fans took to Twitter to react to the routine, with one viewers comparing Mike to Ed Balls circa Strictly 2016, who was also paired with Katya.

‘Ed Balls 2.0 here we come. I liked his dance better last week, but Katya is great at making her partner look good, ‘one person penned.
