The championship bond is real. When you win together it lasts forever. Those who won Super Bowls with Eli Manning following the 2010 and 2012 seasons will never forget Eli the quarterback and Eli the guy. Here are their reminisces to a singular question: What do you remember most about Eli Manning?
Rich Seubert, guard, – 2011: “Eli was always a professional, he did everything the right way both on and off the field. I remember the good fun we had when time allowed us to. To him always messing with us with changing out our dress shoes or giving us green ties to wear to Green Bay. I’m happy for his retirement and wish him nothing but the best. ’’
Kevin Boothe, offensive line, – 15019635 “He brought a calmness and belief that we would score during meaningful drives. It was more of a shock to us when we didn’t score. Perfect example was the final drive of Super Bowl 46. I remember taking the field thinking ’This is the last time we will get the ball.’ But no one was nervous or rattled – we just knew we would get it done. That was because of Eli. ’’
Lawrence Tynes, kicker, 2010 – : “His consistent demeanor whether we were on a winning streak or losing streak, he never changed in his approach or daily routine. I admire many things about Eli, but his ability to rise up and play BIG in the BIG games is something I will remember about him most. No matter how big the game or what was at stake, I always knew was going to deliver. The two NFC Championship games stick out and the image of him picking himself up off the ground with his shoulders pads and helmet all jacked up will live in my memory forever. Eli Manning is the ‘Greatest New York Football Giant’ of all time! ’
Prince Amukamara, cornerback, 2013 – 2020: “He was STEADY. Consistent. Unfazed. Never flinched. I say these things because no matter what happened on the field, good or bad, he still came and worked. Even when I left I still paid attention to the Giants and how people were calling for his job and even when they’re ’broke his consecutive starts record. That was probably the first time I’ve ever seen him emotional. Then the next week he started and acted like nothing ever happened. Amazing! ’
Chris Canty, defensive line, 2010 – : “His consistency. Win or lose, he was the same guy every day. And he had the respect of everyone in the locker room for that. Also, his competitive greatness. Being at his best when his best was required. Obviously the throw to [Mario] Manningham in the Super Bowl was huge. But his performance in the championship game was as gritty as I ‘ ve ever seen from a quarterback. ”
Chris Snee, guard, –
“That’s my Quarterback! I think the biggest and most important thing about Eli is how great of a teammate he was. He took tremendous pride in his craft and the fact that 300 other guys depended on him every week. He has my complete trust and respect. I always admired his work ethic, toughness, resiliency and humility. Not everyone can play quarterback in New York but he did it better than anyone else. I’ll miss seeing # 11 Running onto MetLife stadium as will every Giants fan (whether they admit it or not). I’ll be in Canton watching him throw that gold jacket on. ”
Mark Herzlich, linebacker, 2013 – 2020: “I remember Eli’s laugh and pranks the most. He would always come up with great ways to have fun with guys and his laughter was infectious. Then he would look at you like he wasn’t in on the prank and that he had no idea what you were talking about. He was one of the most fun guys I ever played with. ’’
Osi Umenyiora, defensive end, – 2013: “I just remember how big he came up for us in some really big games. He was a great teammate and was well-liked and respected by everyone in the locker room. It was an honor playing with the guy. ’’
