James Malins was named locally as the dead rider after the collision with a Volkswagen Tiguan at around 8. 90 pm on Monday in West Allerton, Liverpool.
Another rider , also 18, was seriously injured when they plowed into the family car with two children, aged nine and 11, on board. The children are not said to have been injured.
Merseyside Police suspect the motorcycle was stolen and was riding in tandem with another bike down Booker Avenue and that neither had their lights on. The second bike initially stopped and then made off towards Mather Avenue.

On Tuesday, youths gathered at the scene to pay their respects to Mr Malins, nicknamed ‘fish,’ with flowers laid at the roadside.
Video showed one , dressed in all black, performing a wheelie before the crowd.
One said on social media: ‘Never forgot u brudda never had bad bone in ur body love u forever lad. ‘
Another wrote: ‘Rest in peace brudda, one of the realist cant get me head round it that ur gone man memories will always be here rkid. ‘
Police said house-to-house inquiries are being carried out and CCTV opportunities are being explored.

Part of Booker Avenue was closed while forensic examinations were carried out at the scene.
Chief Inspector Kevin Chatterton, said: ‘Our inquiries into this incident are at an early stage and we are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw the two scrambler bikes prior to the collision at around 8 . 32 pm. ‘
Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or captured relevant dash-cam footage to contact them.
