Locals have blamed drug gangs for the violence in an Irish town. and have compared the area to an ISIS stronghold.

Many living in Drogheda, miles north of Dublin, are still in shock following the killing of – year-old Keane Mulready-Woodsand say they are too scared to leave their homes.

The **** teenager was dismembered and his remains were found in a sports bag on a Dublin estate on Monday. His head was recovered from a burning car two days later.

Now, residents in the Irish town in County Louth are speaking out about the violence plaguing their town.

Kaylene Murray wrote onTwitter: “Drogheda has become that scary that people are afraid to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and you don’t even wanna step out of your own front door unless it’s necessary. “

Ciara Phelan also tweeted: “Awake since 4am after spending a day in Drogheda. Can’t get the teenager out of my head.

“One local said he hasn’t been this shaken since the murder of Veronica Guerin.

” Another compared the killing to something you’d hear happening in ISIS. Just utter devastation. “

Guerin was an Irish crime reporter who was shot dead by drug lords in (near Dublin.)

Cillian Curran wrote on Twitter that “Drogheda is the Compton of Europe”, comparing the town to the Los Angeles neighborhood once notorious for gang violence.

Michael Brennan said casual drug users funding the town’s drug gangs had to take responsibility.

He tweeted: “Calling all casual cocaine Users – ‘It’s a harmless bit of fun on the weekend, it’s a great buzz, everybody does it and sure you’re harming no-one’ … Well that’s BULLS ***!

“You are directly funding the b ***** ds that tortured and butchered a child in Drogheda! Let that sink in! “

Seán Hennessy tweeted:” Be clear about this. If you are a casual or occasional cocaine user, you are an accomplice to the horrific murder and shootings happening in Dublin, Drogheda and elsewhere.

“YOU are funding these animals and saying you’re ok with these crimes. “

But David W Higgins blamed the Irish government drug laws as he tweeted: “People tweeting that drug users ‘have blood on their hands’ over the Drogheda murders is a perfect microcosm of Ireland’s failed drugs laws, which punish users instead of catching dealers. “

Ireland’s Taoiseach Leo Varadkar visited Drogheda on Friday to address the violence.

In a statement, he said: “I had an in-depth meeting with senior Gardaí in Drogheda earlier today.
