Donald Trumphas claimed victory after Justice Department inspector general Michael Horowitz released his report claiming that the FBI did not pursue a politically motivated investigation into the Trump campaign – but that agents did tend to favor damaging evidence over exculpatory evidence as the investigation continued .

The report was released asHouse Judiciary Committeepresented and reviewed the evidence accumulated so far in theimpeachment inquiry, with charges against the president expected to be drawn up by the end of the week ahead of a potential pre-Christmas vote in the House of Representatives.

Donald Trump has praised the Department of Justice inspector general report, claiming that the report showed an effort to overthrow the government – even though the report insisted the opposite.

The president falsely claimed during a White House meeting that the report – which found evidence of mistakes by American officials, but debunked claims of a conspiracy against the Trump campaign —had shown an effort to “overthrow” the US government, and that it was “far worse” than he expected.

“It is incredible. Far worse than I would’ve ever thought possible. And it’s an embarrassment to our country, it’s dishonest, “Mr Trump said.

Mr Trump continued for a while, before adding:” This was an overthrow of government. This was an attempted overthrow, and a lot of people were in on it and they got caught. “

Louie Gohmert suggested that, if elected, Joe Biden could be impeached with the same articles of impeachment currently being considered against Donald Trump. This ignores the fact that the former vice president was following US policy while the current president was seemingly seeking political investigations for personal gain.

The (FBI)’s investigation into contacts between Donald Trump‘election campaign and Russiawas justified and not politically biased, a report by the Justice Department’s watchdog has found.

The findings refute Mr Trump’s repeated claims of a deep-state “witch-hunt” to undermine his presidency.

The – page report, by the department’s inspector general Michael Horowitz , says the so-called Crossfire Hurricane investigated ation was justified in eavesdropping on Carter Page, a former Trump campaign aide who had made several visits to Russia.
