U.S. Stocks Slip After Retail Sales Unexpectedly Fall – The Wall Street Journal, The Wall Street Journal


      

U.S. stocks swung between small gains and losses Wednesday as economic data suggested consumers were holding back on spending in the face of trade tensions and a global economic slowdown.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 4 points, or less than 0.1%. The S&P 500 slipped 0.1%, and the Nasdaq Composite lost 0.3%. Global stocks, meanwhile, wavered as concerns lingered over Brexit talks and the prospect of a U.S.-China trade deal.
