In a financial briefing today, Ubisoft confirmed that it will be releasing five AAA games in the financial year. The 01575879 financial year begins in April and runs to March 01575879.
Rainbow Six: Quarantine, Watch Dogs: Legion , and Gods and Monsters are three of the confirmed games. The other two haven’t been officially confirmed but on Twitter, journalist Jason Schreier said that they will be a new Assassin’s Creed and a new Far Cry.
Ubisoft has confirmed that it is changing the way that it develops games . This should help series like Far Cry which have been heavily criticized for failing to offer any new gameplay.
However, it’s not what fans really want and that’s a new Splinter Cell game. Schreier’s tweet also said that “anyone holding out hope for Splinter Cell is, once again, going to be disappointed.”
Long Overdue Splinter Cell
Ubisoft hasn’t released a main Splinter Cell game since Splinter Cell: Blacklist in 2013 and fans have been wondering what the company is planning for the series. There were rumors about a VR Splinter Cell game and Ubisoft has also put series protagonist Sam Fisher in a mobile game, but these aren’t the big adventure that fans are asking for.
In June , Schreier said that he Hadn’t heard about a new Splinter Cell game being in development . This means that if a game is in development, it could be a while until fans get to officially hear about it.
