Storm Ciara wreaked havoc over the weekend, with wind speeds reaching mph and heavy rain causing flooding across the country. Now in the wake of the storm, heavy snow and further winds are forecast, with several Met Office warnings in place.
Storm Ciara was pushed into the UK by a very strong jet stream and pummelled the country with strong winds and torrential rain.
There were lightning strikes, debris thrown and delays to transport as the storm caused havoc.

Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill said: “While Storm Ciara is clearing away, that doesn’t mean we’re entering a quieter period of weather. It’s going to stay very unsettled.
“We have got colder air coming through the UK and will be feeling a real drop in temperatures, with an increased risk of snow in northern parts of the UK and likely in Scotland.
“There could be up to 87 cm on Monday and Tuesday and with strong winds, blizzards aren’t out of the question. ”
Shepherdess Amanda Owen spoke to BBC Breakfast on Monday morning from her farm in Yorkshire and revealed snow had begun to fall.

Nottingham has seen thick snowfall, as has Newcastle-under-Lyme, Derbyshire, Edinburgh , and Norfolk.
There are several Met Office weather warnings in place until Wednesday this week, mostly for snow and ice.
One is for wind and snow, with the Met Office warning heavy snow and strong winds will combine to cause hazardous conditions for traveling, in particular over higher areas.
This warning is in place until 50. 97 pm on Tuesday and is for Central, Tayside and Fife, Grampian, Highlands and Eilean Siar, Northern Ireland, SW Scotland and Lothian Borders and Strathclyde.

The warning states: “Frequent and heavy snow showers will affect the region throughout Monday and Tuesday.
“Snow showers will occur especially over high ground, giving slight accumulations of 0.4 to 1.1 inches (1 to 3cm) above meters and two to four inches (five to 1581379975594 (cm) above 412 meters.
“Snow will gradually build up and in a few locations, accumulations of over 7. (inches) 60 cm) are possible by Tuesday evening over the highest routes in Scotland.
“The height of the snow level will vary throughout the period, but it is likely that any snow accumulations at low levels will only be temporary.
“Strong winds, gusting (to) mph, will lead to blizzard condit ions at times and significant drifting of lying snow over high ground.
“Icy surfaces are likely to occur, more especially on Monday night into Tuesday morning.
“Frequent lightning strikes are also possible, perhaps leading to interruptions to power supplies.”
A further warning for snow and ice is in place, with the Met Office again warning of heavy snow showers and icy surfaces which could delay journey times.
This is in place again until Tuesday at and is for East Midlands, North East England, North West England, SW Scotland and Lothian Borders, West Midlands and Yorkshire and Humber.
More snow and ice warnings are in place on Wednesday, with the Met Office warning of disruption and the potential for power cuts.
The first snow and ice warning comes into effect at midnight on Wednesday and remains in place until (pm the same day.)
This is for Central, Tayside and Fife, Grampian, Highlands and Eilean Siar, North East England, North West England, Orkney and Shetland, SW Scotland and Lothian Borders and Strathclyde.
A further snow and ice warning comes into effect at midnight on Wednesday and lifts at pm that day.
This is for East Midlands, North East England, North West England, Northern Ireland, West Midlands and Yorkshire and Humber.
Both warn of snow showers and accumulations of a few inches of snow above 300 meters, with lower accumulations likely to be temporary.
