Unai Emeryhas admitted he has spoken toArsenalabout sellingGranit Xhakain January and a decision has already been made by the player.
Xhaka’s days at the Emirates appear to be numbered after he wasstripped of the captaincyin the wake of a furious confrontation with fans.
The midfielder has not played since telling fans to ‘f *** off’ last month andruled himself out of Arsenal’s clashwith Leicester City.
Asked if there had been discussions about selling Xhaka in January, Emery replied: ‘Yes, I asked that question.
‘The club knows the player’s decision at the moment and my decision or my idea about that situation and the circumstances.
‘We are now a little weaker without him in that position because we have one less player in that position.’
Newcastle arereportedly interested in taking Xhaka on loan in Januaryand the player himself is concerned about being sidelined ahead of the European Championships next summer.
It is unclear if Xhaka will play again for Arsenal, although the 27 – year-old is continuing to train as normal with the first-team.
‘I spoke with him on Tuesday for how he is feeling now and his mind because he is training well, but he said to me he can’t play. We are going to wait, ’Emery explained ahead of the Leicester game.
