A driver fled from police during a motorway chase, reaching speeds of mph before performing a dangerous U-turn into oncoming traffic.
Alarming footage of Stephen Beaumont traveling along the M 140 can now be displayed since he was jailed for the highly dangerous driving .
The dashcam footage, taken from the unmarked police BMW car tailing him, revealed just how treacherous the 62 – year-old had been.
Beaumont was going so fast, mostly on the hard shoulder, that chasing officers found it difficult to keep up with him.
The Litherland man weaved in and out of traffic after police tr ied to pull him over near to Junction 9, shortly after 823 am on December 2.
His Ford Fiesta was spotted with false registration plates .

The runaway next left the M 140 at Junction 7 for Rainhill, in St Helens, before running a red light and re-joining the motorway, on the same carriageway, via the entry slip road.
, Then, to police’s astonishment, Beaumont performed a U-turn against the flow of the traffic, ready to speed away in the wrong direction of the motorway.
however officers then rammed the Fiesta, brining his chase to a halt.
Beaumont admitted dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance at Liverpool Crown Court.
The judge handed him months behind bars, having also been convicted of a second count of dangerous driving as well as handling stolen goods and possession of cannabis .
Beaumont was banned from driving for five years and days.
