Being overweight brings with itself a host of health conditions. When Aashish Jain realized that he was getting breathless very frequently, he understood that his weight was getting out of hand. This is when he decided to take charge of his life and lose weight. From working out six days a week to strictly avoiding outside food, hisweight lossis an inspiration through and through.

The turning point: When you are overweight, there are so many things that weigh you down – literally. I was not able to find clothes of choice and all the unsolicited comments about my weight really dented my self-confidence. It addition of the way I looked, all the extra kilos had started taking a toll on my health. I used to feel breathless and tired all the time. That was the point I decided to take charge of my health. Cricketer Virat Kohli’s fitness videos acted as a huge motivation for me to lose weight.

My breakfast:
I have oats, some boiled vegetables like carrot and a portion of sprouts.

My lunch:
Two ragi chapatis with a bowl of dal.

My dinner:I stick to fruit juices and fruits with more water content like watermelon for my dinner.

Pre-workout meal: A cup of black coffee and a handful of dry fruits .

I indulge in:I love gorging on pasta, masala dosa and ice creams. However, I make it a point to practice portion control.

My workout:I do cardio for 45 – 60 minutes every day along with weight lifting. I workout 6 days a week and rest on Sunday.

Low-calorie recipes I swear by:
I vouch on tofu salad.

Fitness secrets I unveiled:A proper diet and regular workout can do wonders to your body.

How do I stay motivated?Looking up to fitness icons such as Virat Kohli kept me motivated and helped me stick to the path of fitness. Additionally, my family and friends were incredibly supportive of my journey and helped me get fit. My friends Ruthwick and Adithya used to motivate me every day to achieve my goal.

How do you ensure you don’t lose focus?The biggest reason that helped me stay motivated was being able to see tangible results. I was proud of the person I was becoming. Moreover, after weight loss, my next goal is to build a muscular physique.

What’s the most difficult part of being overweight?
While I remained incredibly motivated throughout my weight loss journey, my life before the transformation wasn’t that easy. From not being able to breathe properly because of my weight, getting tired easily to battling body shaming, I faced a lot of issues only because I was overweight.

What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line?After ten years, I want to remain as fit as I am and develop a muscular physique.

What are the lifestyle changes you made?There are two changes I made and followed them very strictly: First, I made sure no matter what happens I would work out for at least an hour every day and second, I completely shunned outside food.

What was the lowest point for you?Thankfully, I did not face any such lows on my quest to lose weight. I remained positive in the face of adversity and the result is here for all to see.

Lessons learnt from weight loss:I have realized that having a fit and flexible body not only makes you happier but can also help you live a long, healthy life.
