Becky Hammon won’t come easily if the Knicks want her to be their next head coach.
The Spurs assistant coach and former New York Liberty star would be interested in moving to the Knicks sideline if team president Steve Mills and general manager Scott Perry should call – but only if she could land a long-term deal,According to CNBC.The belief is a four-to-five-year contract would be enough.
Recently fired coach David Fizdalereceived a four-year pact from the Knicks when he was hired in May (*********************. The previous coach, Jeff Hornacek worked under a three-year contract. Hammon wanting a long-term commitment isn’t surprising with the Knicks having hired four different coaches over the past eight seasons.
She also has other things to consider as she looks to become the first female head coach in NBA history. Her current boss, Gregg Popovich, went out of his way Friday to takea shot at the Knicks treatment of Fizdaleand the situation a new coach could be walking into.
