NEW DELHI: Theexit pollson Monday predicted a
thumping victory for the BJP
in both Maharashtra and Haryana, with the party receiving a bigger mandate in both the states compared to the 2014 assembly elections.
The exit polls, broadcast soon after the polling ended, varied widely in their projection of seats for the rival alliances but an emphatic victory with more than two- third seats for the BJP-led NDA in Maharashtra and Haryana was the common theme in most of them.
In Maharashtra, a poll of six exit polls gave the BJP and Shiv Sena combine 213 seats out of the total 288 seats. The Congress and NCP combine was projected to win only 61 seats while the other parties could win 14 seats.
In Haryana, the exit polls predict that the BJP will retain power winning 66 out of total 90 seats, while the Congress is projected to bag only 14 seats and the other parties 10.
