When The Bachelor franchise officially announced Listen to Your Heart , many fans joked about (Jed Wyatt) ‘s influence on the franchise. The dog food jingle virtuoso got his start on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette and even became her final pick. But after cameras stopped rolling, Brown discovered Wyatt had a girlfriend back at home and wasn’t there “for the right reasons.” Nevertheless, viewers noted The Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart was the perfect fit for Wyatt. But recently, host Chris Harrison revealed he thinks otherwise.

When ABC unveiled the premise of The Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart , the fandom was instantly reminded of Wyatt. We now know the series only features new faces in its cast, as opposed to old contestants from The Bachelor franchise. However, a few familiar faces will make cameos. And in January , Harrison joked

Wyatt should come back .

“Jed is the obvious [choice],” Harrison told Entertainment Tonight when asked which Bachelor Nation alums should appear on Listen to Your Heart .

Meanwhile, in an interview with Us Weekly from January , Harrison suggested the spinoff series could provide Wyatt with a redemption arc after what happened on The Bachelorette .

“I think he needs a chance to maybe redeem himself, musically and emotionally. I think he bombed on both, ”Harrison said. “It was a tragic ending to his story on so many levels.”

Now it appears Harrison doesn’t believe Wyatt would have been a good addition to the Listen to Your Heart cast. And even if Wyatt did have a girlfriend , Harrison hinted the talent on the spinoff surpasses the former Bachelorette winner.

“This may have been the perfect show for him, although again, he still could not have come on with a girlfriend,” Harrison told Refinery . “That’s the whole point. You need to be single. I guess that would have been a big hurdle to get over. ”

He continued: “No offense to Jed, but these are legitimate musicians from all across the spectrum. We have people that came from their church choirs, people that have a Broadway background, people who have been grinding in Nashville for years and have never made it. We have one of the guys who made it pretty far on American Idol . ”

Chris Harrison reveals what inspired ‘The Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart’ Clearly, Wyatt won’t be making his grand return to The Bachelor franchise anytime soon. And although the timing of to Your Heart has fans speculating the new series was inspired by Wyatt, Harrison insisted A Star Is Born is the reason why the team wanted to dive into a music spinoff.

“We all love A Star Is Born . You saw that chemistry with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, especially that moment at the Oscars when they just had this crazy chemistry and you thought, ‘Wow, they may make a baby right there,’ ”Harrison told KTLA on April 29. “We thought we could sprinkle what we do with The Bachelor so well and make that chemistry in real life. A beautiful couple that loves each other, but a great duet. And this is what was born – Listen to Your Heart . ”

But inspiration aside, The Bachelor team is aware they are confronting another element outside of romance. When speaking with E! News, Harrison touched on the “ here for the right reasons ”stigma within the franchise and how the music spinoff dealt with it.

“[The Listen to Your Heart contestants] all do have this shared passion of music, and I thought OK, are they all going to be here for their musical careers?” Harrison said. “But honestly, it kind of took the onus off of that ‘are you here for the right reasons’ thing, because they were all there for the reason of music and to expand that, but also to find love.”

The Host also added there was another layer of “vulnerability” and “intimacy” to the franchise we haven’t seen before, as it came through the music. But don’t worry. Listen to Your Heart is still about love. Harrison said:

We were very careful. when we started the show. A lesson that we learned a long time ago is that what’s most important is the relationship – love, finding love. Diving into that is always paramount, and throughout the entire show, you realize that ultimately is the most important thing. And if you can find music on top of that, that’s a bonus. It will really feel more like a Bachelor show, less of a music competition show for sure.

The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
