More weather warnings issued
Met Eireann has issued an orange wind warning for Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick between 6pm and 3am on tomorrow.
It said the low-pressure system, which it has named Storm Lorenzo, could bring gusts between 62 mph and 80 mph.
A yellow weather warning is also in place from 3pm to 10 pm tomorrow for Northern Ireland’s coastline.
September UK rainfall above average
The storm comes as the latest Met Office figures show that UK rainfall was 27% above average for September, with 122 .4mm falling during the month, compared to the .4mm average.
Despite the downpour, the Environment Agency declared a drought in Hertfordshire and north London yesterday, when much of the country was experiencing flash flooding.

The Met Office is warning of transport disruption and power cuts in Northern Ireland, South West England and Wales on Thursday and Friday.

Seven islands on alert
Authorities in the Azores placed seven islands on red alert as Lorenzo approached. School classes were cancelled and government offices were closed as people were told to remain indoors today.
Schools and roads shut
Lorenzo briefly became a Category 5 hurricane at the weekend, the strongest on record this far north and east in the Atlantic, but it has since been downgraded, striking the Azores as a Category 1.
Schools and non-emergency services will be cl osed across the Azores on Wednesday, the regional government has said, with ports on some islands also shut.
Lorenzo is forecast move away from the Azores today and closer to Ireland on Thursday evening.
Power outages across Azores
The hurricane has caused power outages and knocked down trees across the Azores.
The eye of Lorenzo is near Flores island in the western Azores, theNational Hurricane Centersaid, but the storm is expected to move northeast quickly.
Hurricane warnings are still in effect for the islands of Flores, Corvo, Faial, Pico, Sao Jorge, Graciosa and Terceira.
