Spurs closing on new striker from Porto

Jose Mourinho appears set to raid former club Porto to find a temporary solution to Spurs striking issues.

With Harry Kane out injured, Spurs are scouring Europe for a new striker.

And Porto forward Ze Luis has emerged as an option.

Sources in Portugal suggest a loan deal with an option to buy could see the 27 year-old arrive in North London.

Ze Luis, who joined Porto from Spartak Moscow last summer, has scored eight goals in 19 games this season so far.

A Cape Verde international, he will need a work permit.

Burton land Powell

Burton have signed Joe Powell from West Ham on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Powell, 25, is the League One side’s second signing this week, following the arrival of Conor Shaughnessy on loan from Leeds until the end of the season.

The Brewers announced their latest capture on Tuesday.

Powell said: “Hopefully, I can come here, play some very good football and add to the achievements of the club.

Manchester United’s bid to sign Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes is facing a potential hold-up – because Fenerbahce are reportedly interested in signing Marcos Rojo.

Setien ‘fourth choice’ to take charge of Barcelona

New Barcelona boss Quique Setien was the club’s “fourth choice, at best” for the job, according to Spanish football expert Graham Hunter.

The former Real Betis head coach wasappointed by the Spanish championson Monday after Ernesto Valverde was sacked, despite the club currently sitting top of La Liga.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez joked that he had never heard of Paul Pogba when he was asked about a potential transfer bid for the Manchester United

Eriksen ‘agrees’ Inter move

Tottenham’s want-away star Christian Eriksen has reportedly agreed a deal to join Inter Milan this month.

The Danish midfielder played the full minutes in Spurs’ 2-1 win over Middlesbrough on Tuesday night, but according to journalist Fabrizio Romano a move could be imminent.

Writing on his Twitter, Romano said: “Christian Eriksen has just accepted to join Inter on January – he’d like to move immediately and is “ready to agree” personal terms.
