Plymouth MP Luke Pollard says he is “disgusted” by the release of notorious paedophile Vanessa George.
George, 49, was jailed indefinitely in 2009 and ordered to serve a minimum of seven years for abusing toddlers at Little Ted’s Nursery in Plymouth, Devon.
The Parole Board ruledearlier this month that George no longer poses a significant threatto the public – although she is under “strict license conditions” and banned from entering Devon and Cornwall.
Mr Pollard, who represents Plymouth Sutton and Devonport, said George’s release represented a “dark day for British justice”.
I’m frankly disgusted that Vanessa George will be able to walk the streets from today onwards.
Her victims have a life sentence ahead of them and not knowing whether it was their child that she abused, filmed and then shared the images of with a network of paedophiles.
Frankly, she shouldn’t be released at all until she at least names those children that she abused. She should remain behind bars and for me, this seems like a very dark day for British justice.
