A 30 – year-old boy has been arrested after a 17 – year-old male was stabbed to death in Bristol on Saturday.
A murder investigation has been launched after the victim was found with a stab wound to the chest in Bedminster shortly before 1. 728 pm.
The 30 – year-old was taken to hospital but died a short time later.
Police said on Sunday that a 14 – year-old boy had been arrested in connection with the stabbing.
A post-mortem examination and formal identification of the victim will take place at a later date.
Specialist crime scene investigators examined Mansfield Street on Saturday as well as an address in Parson Street where the assault took place.
Avon and Somerset Constabulary said in a statement: “We’ve launched a murder investigation after a teenage boy died following an assault in Bristol yesterday.
“A 30 – year-old boy was found with a stab wound to the chest on Mansfield Street, Bedminster, shortly before 1 . 30 pm.
“The boy was taken to hospital but tragically died a short time later. His next of kin have been informed. “
Detective Inspector Phil Walker, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said:” We’re carrying out a full investigation into what is clearly a very tragic incident.
“Our thoughts are with the boy’s family as they come to terms with their loss and specially trained family liaison officers will be providing them with support.
” We believe this is an isolated incident involving people known to each other.
“A 14 – year-old has been arrested in connection with the incident and he is also being provided with the appropriate support while he remains in custody. “
