After a goalless first half, Watford struck five minutes into the second half through Sarr. (

The United stopper should have collected the shot easily but inexplicably spilt the ball onto the post and into the net.

“Well, there’s no explaining that. I mentioned De Gea, the part he played in Everton’s goal last week and perhaps his confidence has been affected, I don’t know.

“But that is such a rare incident for one of the world’s best goalkeepers.

“A bit of a spin on the ball but he’d normally collect this in his sleep.”

To make things worse for United and De Gea, Watford doubled their lead minutes later when Troy Deeney converted a penalty.

De Gea ended speculation over his future at United in September by signing a new long-term contract with the club. The – year-old says he was honored to continue his career at Old Trafford.

“It has been a privilege to spend eight years at this great club and the o pportunity to continue my career at Manchester United is a genuine honor, ”De Gea said.

“Since I arrived here, I could never have imagined I would play over games for this club. Now my future is fixed, all I want is to help this team achieve what I believe we can and win trophies again, together.

“I am committed to continue repaying the fans for all of the care that they’ve shown me during the good times and the bad.”
