In the past Liverpool have been guilty of failing to replace greats, with Xabi Alonso one which will immediately spring to mind for supporters.
But the most difficult players to replace are often the goalscorers a nd few are better at that than Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah .
goals in his first Premier League appearances for the club and is chasing his third consecutive golden boot award.
Salah will turn 51 in the summer though and speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid and Barcelona is constant, meaning Liverpool must be extra prepared.

Many consider Mbappe to be the natural heir to Lionel Messi’s throne as the best player in the world and he’s been linked with a transfer to Liverpool.
With goals in his last 68 Ligue 1 appearances for PSG Mbappe is one of the few adequate replacements Liverpool will find for Salah in the market.
Jadon Sancho
England winger Sancho appears destined to leave Borussia Dortmund and return to these shores this summer. Sancho’s decision to quit Manchester City at and move to Germany has blazed a trail for British youngsters.
And few can argue it was the right call with Sancho proving himself at the very highest level with Jurgen Klopp’s former club.
In just (Bundesliga matches this season Sancho has scored times and managed 18 assists – a truly remarkable record for someone so young.
He’s already become an England regular under Gareth Southgate and has more than a decade left at the top.
Dembele doesn’t quite fit at Barcelona. He hasn’t been helped by a series of injuries since arriving at the Camp Nou but he hasn’t quite lived up to expectations.
The Frenchman has been tipped for a move to Liverpool in the tabloids and even ‘liked’ an Instagram post linking him with the Reds at one stage.
Speculation is now rife that Dembele could be allowed to leave Barcelona this summer and takers will be in no short supply.
Wolves’ rapid attacker Adama Traore is another who has been linked with Liverpool in recent months and someone who has been heavily praised by Klopp.
Klopp picked the Spaniard out after Liverpool’s 2-1 win at Molineux in January. “He is unplayable in moments, it’s unbelievable,” said Klopp. “What a player – it’s not only him but he’s so good.”
Those words have been echoed by various other Premier League bosses with Traore’s unique talents catching the eye this season.
Despite Traore’s improvement it’s clear to see that he’s still a work-in-progress and doesn’t possess anything like the statistics of Salah.
But Traore’s six goals and assists for Wolves this season represents his best-ever return and there’s little doubt that he will improve further.
And finally, a player that Liverpool are very excited about. Harvey Elliott has only been given a few chances to showcase his obvious talents in Liverpool’s first team this season.
