  1. Bye for now

Thanks for joining us for tonight’s friendly in Dortmund. You can read our report on the gamehere.

Germany will now hope to get back to winning ways against Estonia on Sunday, to make sure they stay above Northern Ireland in their Euro 2020 qualifying group.

Argentina, meanwhile, have another friendly on Sunday against fellow South Americans Ecuador in Spain.

In the meantime, we’ll be back on Thursday for live text commentary on some crucial Euro 2020 Qualifiers for Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Should be an eventful evening – and we’ll bring you all the action. See you then.

  2. Post update

    FT: Germany 2-2 Argentina

It was an inexperienced Argentina side but they did coach (Lionel Scaloni) proud, especially those substitutes. Here’s what Scaloni said before the game: “It is a very important test for us, to test important alternatives.

“It is a match that is very important to the players that are playing and their careers. We’ll see whether they are able to withstand the pressure playing against such a strong opponent like Germany. “

    FT: Germany 2-2 Argentina

Did NOT see that coming at half-time, with Germany having been dominant in Dortmund, Serge Gnabry and Kai Havertz giving them a 2-0 lead.

But Argentina made a couple of substitutions at the break and they showed far greater urgency. Lucas Alario pulled one back before fellow sub Lucas Ocampos capped his debut with an equaliser.

Some promising signs for Germany but fair play to Argentina, they rarely go down without a fight.

  4. (FULL-TIME)

    Germany 2-2 Argentina

And the Mexico-based midfielder gets a matter of seconds on the pitch before the final whistle goes.

  5. SUBSTITUTION

    Germany 2-2 Argentina

Final change for Argentina as Rodrigo De Paul is replaced by Guido Rodríguez.

  6. goal

    GOAL – Germany 2-2 Argentina

    Lucas Ocampos

But Lucas Ocampos isn’t going to let that booking bother him. He’s just leveled up.

Argentina pounce on another wayward ball in the Germany half and Lucas Alario runs at the home defense before laying off for Ocampos just inside the box.

The Sevilla midfielder, who has come on for his debut, tries a first -time strike that takes a slight deflection of Emre Can and goes past Marc-Andre ter Stegen at his near post.

  7. (YELLOW CARD)

    Germany 2-2 Argentina

Two Argentina players dive in to bring down Lukas Klostermann, with half-time substitute Lucas Ocampos being shown the yellow card.

  8. SUBSTITUTION

    Germany 2-1 Argentina

With Germany looking a bit ragged now, Joachim Low brings on some experience with the introduction of Sebastian Rudy for Kai Havertz, scorer of his side’s second goal.

    Germany 2-1 Argentina

Now Joshua Kimmich is caught in possession in his own half. Lauturo Martinez lays it off for new strike partner Lucas Alario but his first touch takes him wide and although he digs out a square ball past Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Germany clear from inside the six-yard box.

  • Post update

    Germany 2-1 Argentina

Lucas Alario is keen to make the most of this opportunity. He snatches at a loose ball on the edge of the Germany box and it deflects just wide for a corner, which is easily dealt with.

  • SUBSTITUTION

    Germany 2-1 Argentina

Porto defender Renzo Saravia comes on for Argentina.

  • Post update

    Germany 2-1 Argentina

Joshua Kimmich tries his luck with a firm free-kick from a tight angle. And Agustin Marchesin takes no chances, punching it clear.

  • Post update

    Germany 2-1 Argentina

Four debutants are now on the pitch for Germany. Joachim Low wanted them to get some experience. They’re now up against an Argentina side pushing for an equaliser.

  • SUBSTITUTION

    Germany 2-1 Argentina

Another debut for Germany as Suat Serdar comes on for Serge Gnabry. Coach Joachim Low is no doubt keen to keep the in-forn Bayern man fresh for Sunday’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Estonia.

  • SUBSTITUTION

    Germany 2-1 Argentina

Alario’s Bayer Leverkusen team-mate Nadiem Amiri comes on for his senior debut, replacing Julian Brandt.

  • goal

    (GOAL – Germany 2-1 Argentina)

    Lucas Alario

Game on. Argentina switch play from right to left, where Marcos Acuna is in space to deliver an outswinging cross for fellow substitute Lucas Alario.

And the Bayer Leverkusen striker shows he’s got strong neck muscles by twisting his head round the ball and directing it beyond the dive of Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Out of the blue.

  • SUBSTITUTION

    Germany 2-0 Argentina

Oh, and Paulo Dybala’s number is up. The Juventus striker comes off for Lucas Alario, who plies his trade in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen. Dybala’s been anonymous.

  • (Post update

    Germany 2-0 Argentina

To be fair, on second glance it was a perfectly-weighted ball by Kai Havertz to Emre Can. The 20 – year-old’s looked really impressive in the German midfield.

I pondered earlier if any of these players could shine at the next World Cup. Havertz could be one of them. But few have stood out for Argentina – if any. Paulo Dybala has been surprisingly quiet.

  • (Post update)

    Germany 2-0 Argentina

Julian Brandt swivels just outside the Argentina box and his right-footed strike skids off the surface and into the arms of Marchesin.

  • Post update

    (Germany 2-0 Argentina)

Argentina win another corner but again Germany break at speed, with Kai Havertz nudging the ball inside for the supporting Emre Can but the ball runs way from him and although he pokes it goalwards, Agustin Marchesin blocks it to keep the visitors in it.
