The number of people who have died from coronavirus in the UK has risen by to 4, – the highest number since the outbreak of the pandemic.
A total of , people have now tested positive for the virus in the UK, and 4, of those hospitalized have died.
The true figure is likely to be higher as the government figures only include those who have died in hospital from the virus.

The latest update from the Department of Health reads: “As of 9am April 4, a total of , people have been tested of which , tested positive.
“As of 5pm on April 3, of those hospitalized in the UK who tested positive for coronavirus, 4, have sadly died. ”
Public Health Wales announced (new positive cases of COVID-) in Wales today. They also said that death toll for the country had now reached 190 .
The UK government figures on deaths relate to patients who have died in hospital and does not include deaths in the community, for example in care homes, so the true death toll could be higher. Saturday’s update comes as the government reiterated its message for people to stay home as the UK is expected to have warmer weather over the weekend. They have warned that the infection rate will remain high for “weeks and weeks” if people flout the social distancing rules.
